History:
By 1915, land had been purchased on Kickapoo Street and a high school erected at a cost of $21,000. This building, intended for just high school students, had a first and second grade class for two years before they were moved back to East Side School. The school was named Joe Wright, but known as Jacksonville High School.

In the distance you can see the Old Main building of Jacksonville Baptist College (JBC).
