History:
"In 1925, Jacksonville had outgrown her school facilities and a new building was constructed on Neches Street at a cost of $125,000. Students were now afforded academic opportunities that had not been available in the past; science laboratories, clothing laboratories, study hall, etc. With students attending this new high school, the elementary grades (1-8) were divided and placed in the existing three buildings, Joe Wright, East Side, and West Side. This structure remained a high school until 1958, when the present Jacksonville High School opened on Mason Drive. This school then became the Junior High School for students in grades 7-9."
