"The original Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville was a Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The church was a frame building which was located on site of current church. My mother, Frances Tucker Smyrl, was on cradle roll of this church. When church split and ceased affilian with Cumberland Presbyterian association, my grandmother, Mrs. Fuller and others moved their membership to the First Methodist Church. The original Cumberland Presbyterian Church building was sold to the Catholic Church and was considered as a possible restoration project by the Centennial Committee. The building has since been destroyed"

- Shannon Smyrl
