The G. F. Harris Family

Information from Letha Harris Seay

Rev. G. F. Harris was born in 1856, and came to the Jacksonville area about 1870. He married Mary Patton in 1879, studied for the ministry and was ordained in 1891. He devoted his long life to church work, organizing and assisting in building several houses of worship.

His brother, Jasper Harris, was born near Jacksonville in 1877. Jasper did carpenter work and farmed. He died in 1923. He had married Dora Roy-croft and she died at age 84, in 1965. Their son, Linder, now 72, lives near Jacksonville. Their daughter, Letha, married A. W. Seay in 1929. They live in the same area where Letha was born. Their son, Robert L. Seay, served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1967, and now makes his home in Tyler and works for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He married Linda Kay Ham-mons and they have a son, Scott, and a daughter, Tamara.

Wesley Patton, a nephew of the Harris family, lives in Jacksonville.
